We started making west coast hop-forward beers because we love them. This beer style spends too much time traveling across the country to get to the east coast so, why wait?! Just make them here – fresh and ready for enjoyment. Our Humboldt County Gold is brewed with American malts and hops. We use mash techniques to drive malt sweetness in the body to help balance the abusive amounts of hops we put in the kettle and dry hopping phases. Strong and very drinkable at 8% with golden color and beautiful clarity, bursting with pine, citrus, apricot and peach flavors and aromas. We use whole cone Pacific Northwest hop varieties for this beer to keep it hop-forward, flowery and west coast style.

Undated bottle drunk 9/27/25.
Clear, bronze-brasz. Big, white head.
Not gonna lie, I haven't had PtE in a LONG time. Was never a huge fan, though can respect the craft. Certainly smells the part, with sweaty, woody hops and light pine and grapefruit. Clean, only lightly bready, with no resin or iced tea. Seems a great recreation/clone.
A bit malty with lots of bread and a bit more prominent caramel than I'd prefer in an IPA. Don't recall PtE being so caramelly. Pine, grapefruit, sweet, sticky white bread. Only modest bitterness. I guess this is an update, as it's certainly more contemporary (softer, sweeter, lower bitterness). The actual beer is made well: malty, clean, pretty well-attenuated. Honestly, take away the big caramel and this is a knockout. No alcohol or resin noted.
