Deep copper and very strong bronze coloured body with a rather soapy two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of malt, nuts, light earth, a dash of grain and some very pungent English or European hops. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong dank flavour of rich malt with nuts, earth and grain, but then showing some more fragrant grassy and very herbal hops with a lot of earthy flavours towards the end and showing some bitterness from caramelised sugar and toffee of that malt profile. Aftertaste shows definitely a decidedly metallic and grainy malt bill with some more rounded hop flavours that have some bitterness and lighter citrus components, but this really is about the deeper and toasty side of things, at least in terms of the malt and hops. Overall, a rich and more obtuse beer in the malt and grain side of things, but still relatively easy-to-drink and showing some good caramel make this about as robust as you could ask for, while still being an APA. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Trader Joe's in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 13-May-2019 for US$1,69 sampled at home in Washington on 11-June-2019.

2 month old can A: Pours a very clear deep rich orange with 1 of beige frothy head with very good retention. S: Muted scent of orange citrus hops and caramel malts. T: Tart orange is quickly overtaken by pithy hop bitterness that lasts through the woody, toasty malt notes that bring up the finish. M: Crisp carbonation, light to medium body and a very clean finish. O: Tasty hoppy but balanced flavor easily warrants a buy each year.

Can. Chillhazy to cloudy golden color, off white ice cream cone head. Herbal earthy aroma, almost dank. Taste is bitter meadow flowers. Thank you for making abpale ale with decent bitterness and no fruit, can’t remember the last time I had one.

12 oz can. Poured a slightly hazy amber color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was light citrus, sweet malt notes. Light chewy hop notes. Flavor was citrus, light malt. Very drinkable.

Can from Wine Warehouse, CHO. Pours slightly hazy peach-amber with an inch of off-white head. Smells of citrus and pine. Tastes of funky citrus, coffee, bread, hairspray, pine, and ash. Odd. Very odd.

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer pored a very pale yellow color with a huge foamy orange-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was piney and earthy hops. The flavor was bitter, tart and tangy with notes of piney, resinous and earthy hops. Long finish. Medium body. Meh.

This beer is a slightly hazy amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of grassy hops, citrus and malt. Light to medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, pine and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. Overall a well-executed APA.

At Big Buns beer dinner July 3. Pours a hazy amber with a thick tan head. Fruity nose. Flavors of orange, pineapple and grapefruit. Intense flavors. Bitter finish.
