16 oz. can. Aroma is strong pine and roasted malt balance with hint of baker's chocolate. Flavor of roasted malt and pine in the aroma with late coffee bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium side with smooth texture, average-to-lively carbonation. Overall, pine is strong without any resin.

Can from Steve. Opaque dark brown, light sparkle, thin head with fair retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is chocolate malts with slight rubbery component, pine. Taste is strong chocolate malt, wood, pine. Smooth, frothy texture, average carbonation, piney finish as taste. A little to the malty side but piney hops present as well. OK but not great.

Tewks draught, 10/28/25.
As pictured.
First sniffs are awful. Just all beans and over roasted coffee. Wet mud is a reasonable assertion, too. Letting it sit for 5-10 minutes helps, as light PNW hops emerge to take some of the emphasis off the dirt/beany character. But it never really smells great, that's for sure.
It does taste a bit better than it smells, thankfully. But there's still A LOT of dark malt. Lightly chewy, lightly syrupy sweetness with PNW hopping does the job as far as the style goes, but it feels a bit watery too, somehow. Big roast mixing with acidic hops. This style has a lot of potential but is also a disaster when things go wrong....

Pours a deep, dark brown-black, with mid-sized, tan head. Aroma is, frankly, dirt. It honestly smells like wet mud, with maybe some burnt toast and roasted grain, but not very appealing aroma. Flavors are much better: roasted grain, burnt toast, citrus, some piney hops. Mouthfeel is smooth and crisp. I think this is a step up from Raven, but still waiting for a really good black IPA from these guys.
