Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Jane’s Beer and Wine. Aroma is strong dark fruits, bittersweet roasted malts, mild alcohol. Appearance is opaque black with glimmer of dark brown/red at bottom of glass. Brown sediment noted in suspension with mild sparkle. 1/2 finger-width brown head with poor retention and trace lacing. Taste is moderate bittersweet chocolate and coffee up front and at end with sweet dark fruits in middle. Palate is medium bodied with creamy, thick texture, lively carbonation and pleasant bitter over sweet finish.

Draught @ Malt and Mold. Clear dark brown with large spongy tan head, mocha aroma, low carbonation, sweetish mocha taste with alcohol undertones, thick body, long mocha finish with alcohol aftertaste. There is a noticeable alcohol taste that’s not covered well.

Pours a deep dark brown from a bottle, aroma of dark chocolate right off the bat, flavor of chocolate and maybe a bit of homemade raspberry jam, a kind of dark, cooked down fruity sweetness in the back. Maybe even a little dirt flavor, contributing some mineral quality. A little thin. Good beer.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Near black with a medium sized dense tan head. Good retention. Aroma of dark roasted malts, chocolate, hints of blueberries. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, nuts, cranberries and a bit of a phenolic note. Medium bodied, low carbonation, mild lingering bitterness.
