Bottle shared. Black with a ring beige head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, woody barrel notes, caramel, fudge, chocolate, roast, booze, light soy and licorice. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with a thick oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation.

bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Big thanks. Very thin ring tan head. Clear black pour. Lots or bourbon but don’t get the maple syrup. Very very good.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Pitch black with rich beige head. Rich aroma of vanilla and bourbon. Very sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Vanilla, licorice, toffee and coconut that quickly transitions to vicious peppery boozy heat and resin. The bourbon barrels might have had soothing effects, but it is still superficial, boozy and edgy.

Thick pour, pitch black, fine dark espresso head with excellent retention. Bourbon, maple syrup, oak and some dark cherries in the nose Bourbon, maple syrup, oak and dark cherries in the taste. Bitter and sweet aftertaste, with a thick and oily body. World class beer, I would have this again any day.

3700th review! 375 ml bottle into snifter, best before 1/1/2018. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, maple, molasses, caramel, vanilla, toffee, toasted oak, bourbon, coconut, light licorice/dark fruit, light smoke/char, and oak/roasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, maple syrup, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, maple, molasses, caramel, vanilla, toffee, toasted oak, bourbon, coconut, light licorice/dark fruit, light smoke/char, and oak/roasted earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, maple, molasses, caramel, toffee, toasted oak, bourbon, coconut, and oak/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt, maple syrup, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a world class barrel aged imperial stout. All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt. maple syrup, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. An insanely amazing offering.

(375ml bottle from Systembolaget, tack Johan for picking this up!) Pours inky black with just a ring of pale brown bubbles that leave lace. Aroma of maple syrup, dark chocolate, vanilla, dark malts, moderate to heavy bourbon, a bit of roast coffee, coconut and leathery oak, quite sweet. Palate again intensely sweet at first with dark malts, maple syrup, chocolate fudge and vanilla. Bourbon makes itself felt pretty promptly, bringing coconut and more vanilla notes with it along with charred wood. Maple syrup notes reach a peak towards the finish, which then promptly dries out with bourbon, coffee and roasted malts. Aftertaste quite dry, bourbon heat, light roast bitterness, toasted oak. Slight alcohol burn. Fairly thick and oily with almost no carb. Sweet, rich and hefty like most of Omnipollo’s stouts tend to be, but this one’s obvious dessert nature is tempered by the dry, bitter finish that means even the maple syrup isn’t cloying. Lots of barrel in this one too, it’s a really great layered night-time sipper.
