The saga continues! Moonscribe is a unique series coming out of our American oak foeder. This Belgian Blond Ale is brewed with loads of spelt malt, judiciously hopped with Riwaka, and aged Solera style.
Solera is the act of removing only a portion of the finished beer from the vessel it's been aging (in this case, our nearly 1,000 gallon oak foeder) and replenishing the volume with fresh wort to referment and continue aging in oak with traces of every batch before it.
Moonscribe Vol. IV is bone dry, effervescent, mildly hoppy and endlessly drinkable. As soon as the can is opened you're met with an invigorating waft of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice atop the classic Belgian spice. Once you get into the beer, you can expect notes of banana runts, ripe pear, grapefruit zest and bazooka bubblegum.
Our blend of three classic Belgian yeast strains that produce a ton of glycerol give Moonscribe a nice fluffy mouthfeel despite having 0% residual sugar after fermentation.

Aromas are malt, honey, black pepper, dry grain. Flavors are similar to nose and bittersweet. Decent carbonation and body. Lately sweet finish with just some bitter to balance. Not bad not great.

16 oz can. Aroma has notes of clove, old books, dusty basements, hint of banana, pine. Pours lightly hazy golden with a large off-white head with good retention. Taste is lightly dry with some background hoppy bitterness; it’s a little bland and lacking the character teased by the promise of the great aroma. A bit watery. A good but not entirely successful attempt at an authentic Belgian golden ale.

16oz can from Tavour. Cloudy orange/ golden pour, thin layer of fine white head. Big yeasty aroma, biscuity. Taste melds in some fruity flavors, sourdough bread, Belgian yeasty, grassy.

Can from Tavour. Pours somewhat translucent gold with a huge foamy white head that slowly laced down. Aroma of banana and yeast. Med body. Flavor is banana, mild yeast/spice, buckwheat, and light oak astringency. Quite dry and bitter enough. Very good flavor, tho for me it could be stronger.
