This Fresh Hopped Pale Ale is pure Island expression. Field 5 Farm malt from North Saanich provides the foundation, while Maple Bay Hop Farm's fresh hops from the Cowichan Valley burst with vibrant aromatics that can only come from hops picked at peak ripeness and rushed straight to the brew kettle.

473mL can, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma has some doughy malt and soft floral hops. Flavour has soft floral hops, a touch of pine, and doughy, bready malt. Good balance, nice doughiness from the fresh hop. Solid enough.

Pale and almost bright, thinnish weak head. They don’t say what type of hops but these are bright, with spicy, leafy, and pear-like accents. On the palate just mild bitterness, lower hop expression, clean bready pale malt. Decent but mostly an aroma beer.

On tap at The Magnet. Pours clear light gold with a white head. Bright, fresh pine needles and tropical fruit on the nose. Flavour has resins, tropical fruit, and light pine. Medium-bodied. The aroma is okay, but the flavour is pretty timid and a bit off.

Poured from 473mL can (no date stamp, probably getting a fair bit passed fresh hop season now, but had a "new" sign in the store and opening it same day as purchase, but who knows how long distro took). Clear-ish blonde with white head. Feint leafy citrus hops with a light bread malt quality, fairly subdued. Average.

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves soapy lacing. Mild fruity aroma of bready pale malt, orange, pear and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready pale malt, orange, cantaloupe, mango and floral hops in a dry, mild bitter finish. Light body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Refreshing and crushable.
