This California Common beer has all the refreshing sparkle of a cold lager, combined with the subtle earthy tones of nineteenth century British hops. Fermented at high temperatures, this ale-lager hybrid is one of the few native beer styles of the USA.

Light haze on this gold beer, small white head. Palate is smooth and mildly dry, fine crispness. Smooth malts, clean and mildly sweet. Modest soft citric hop and mild pine. Smooth finish brings mild orange peel bitterness. Smooth and drinkable.

330ml bottle from the Cheese & Wine shop, Darlington. Golden amber colour, white foam head and grainy earthy aroma. Taste is grainy, fruity, yeasty, with grassy earthy notes and lingering metalllic bitterness. Medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry grainy earthy metallic bitter finish. Quite OK.
