This small batch brew is the third in our Limited Edition Brewer’s Pride Craft Brew Series. A combination of Citra and US Golding hops gives this refreshing lager its citrus flavor and floral aroma. The brew’s signature tartness comes from the fruit of the prickly pear, a cactus native to our brewery’s landscape that’s hearty, rugged and unmistakably unique - qualities we surely appreciate. Prosit!

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark amber with minimal head. Aroma is sweet, fruity and malty. Taste is liggt bitter with a sweet finish. Weird chemical flavors up front with a little cotton candy and pear flavored hard candy in the finish. Its getting much more fruitier as it warms up though. Light bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and a long finish. Shiner is usually pretty solid, even though most of the beers are really intro to craft stuff, but this is not good.

Pours clear, deep amber with a puffy white head. Niced, strong sweet pear aroma....like an asian pear... Taste is just simply pear....not too sweet, malty. Refreshing and tasty. Quite enjoyable.

Bottle. Orange-yellow colour with small beige foamy head, overpowering sweet fruity aroma, low carbonation, surprisingly non-sweet taste with very floral flavour, abrupt finish with enduring floral taste in mouth. Very unusual beer reminiscent of lambic beers.

What an unusual beer, and some interesting character. The prickly pear was hard to describe, and possibly hard to separate from the Citra hops, but its not clear the hops contributed much. The fruit was a combination of some sour citrus (lemon, grapefruit juice), something vaguely tropical (pineapple, guava), and something vaguely related to apple (green apple, pear), and something else altogether different. It featured prominently in the nose and flavor, and contributed a light sweet and sour component that blended well with a fair if unremarkable base beer that was light amber malted.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, metal, and straw, leading to a bitter finish.
