This small batch brew is the third in our Limited Edition Brewer’s Pride Craft Brew Series. A combination of Citra and US Golding hops gives this refreshing lager its citrus flavor and floral aroma. The brew’s signature tartness comes from the fruit of the prickly pear, a cactus native to our brewery’s landscape that’s hearty, rugged and unmistakably unique - qualities we surely appreciate. Prosit!

Aroma: prickly pear Appearance: golden, clear, thick off-white head Taste: light sweetness, lightly bitter, prickly pear Palate: light body, thin feel, average carbonation, abrupt finish Meh (but I’d drink this over a megabrew on a hot day)

Can: Poured a clear copper color with a small white ring around the head. Aroma is sweet fruit and soggy grain. Taste is fruity forward with a pear and bubblegum tint, very thin and wet.

Bottle. A- Fruity, gummies, A- Amber color, clear liquid, white head. T- Fruity, wheat, gummies, unbalanced, artificial. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, artificial fruity finish. O- Shiner usually seems to do fairly well at unique seasonal brews. This one was not one of them. The prickly pear flavor was there but it was pretty artificial tasting and unbalanced.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s in a mixer sixer pack. Clear, rust orange appearance with a cream colored head. The aroma is full of candy, smarties, pears, and peaches. High carbonation. Kind of sweet. Sort of tastes like peach and honey juice. Refreshing but one-sided. Not to chug and honestly, not overly sweet.

Pour is a clear tan with a small white head. Aroma is super sweet with a big berry, maybe the prickly pear? Flavor is more of the berry sweetness with not much in the way of hops or malts. I don’t know what a prickly pear taste like but this beer has a berry flavor and not much else.

Part of their mixed pack in Vermont. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a frothy warm cap and minimal lacing. Fruity aromas with mild pears in there. Smells good, but the taste is too light. A little fruity but mostly yeasty with some weird grainy malt finish. Wet mouthfeel, a little oily. A little thin. Ok, but nothing too powerful. Better fruit beers out there.

On tap at the bocktown during a thunderstorm. Darker yellow beer. Snell is sweet pleasant fruity perfume, just makes yer mouth water. Yes, olfactory is like candy and not at all volatile on the the nose. Thin head. Decent co2. On the first taste I’m left wondering why the taste is a little disappointing, ...... compared to the smell that is. The taste is easy going, now that I think about it. Pretty well behaved. One of the better beers I’ve had today. Not bad overall. Yes, was pleasantly happy with the whole experience.

Points for brewing wit hthis odd ingredient, although aroma is a bit off-putting. Taste is sweet, but flat and dry. Saving grace is this beer’s beautiful look, light, lcear amber with nice fluffy head. Not sure about the taste of the prickly pear however....
