This small batch brew is the third in our Limited Edition Brewer’s Pride Craft Brew Series. A combination of Citra and US Golding hops gives this refreshing lager its citrus flavor and floral aroma. The brew’s signature tartness comes from the fruit of the prickly pear, a cactus native to our brewery’s landscape that’s hearty, rugged and unmistakably unique - qualities we surely appreciate. Can. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. A big sweet sticky nose. Big citrus, dry dusty base, sweet sugary...I guess prickly pear. Just tastes so sweet. Like splenda.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours light copper with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is like flower jam. Near med body. Flavor is quite floral. There’s a bit of maybe citrus tart in the finish. Rather dry. Totally weird.

On tap at Bootleggers. Pours a clear copper gold with medium creamy off white head thst lasts. The aroma is apple candy, wheat, cereal. Thin mouth, light pear, grain, wheat, metallic finish, not much going on with this one.

Golden color, clean, with small head. Smell of artificial candy pear (no prickly pear). Tastes quite dry, not much flavor, not much sweetness (or not at all), and a bit less of that artificial candy thing.

12 oz. bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Nose is very sweet and pear-dominated -- smelling a bit artificial. Flavour is quite artificial, with fairly sweet pears, some citrus, and floral notes. Not offensive, but really weak and somewhat artificial. Not good.

12oz screw top cap bottle pours with a clear amber to copper body that supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up sugary berry fruitiness, a cream soda sensation and then maybe 7up soda. Hmm. The taste is all berry sugary sweetness that’s all too much table sugar. Behind that it gets into mild earthy sort of fruity tartness that helps break up all the sugary notes and adds some interest to an experience that was lacking. Well. I may need to be in the mood for a sweet berry brew like this.

12 oz bottle poured into a standard pint glass at Phoenix Emporium in Historic Ellicott City, MD. Clear amber with half a finger of off-white head. Aromas of pear, light apples, stone fruit. Tastes of pear, herbs, light spice, malt, slightly medicinal/artificial fruit syrup. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Feel like I might enjoy this more as a wheat beer or something similar, the pear doesn’t work for me with the lager characteristics.
