This small batch brew is the third in our Limited Edition Brewer’s Pride Craft Brew Series. A combination of Citra and US Golding hops gives this refreshing lager its citrus flavor and floral aroma. The brew’s signature tartness comes from the fruit of the prickly pear, a cactus native to our brewery’s landscape that’s hearty, rugged and unmistakably unique - qualities we surely appreciate. Prosit!

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured a dark bronze color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy with a strong fruity presence. The flavor was sweet with pear, apple and artificial sugar. Long finish. Medium body. Meh.

Pours another fizzy head, but it does stick around longer than the soda pop heads of the other two beers. The smell shows some fruit sweetness. The smell has a fruity note, almost like a perfume, in fact. The taste brings in that perfumey fruit with a very slight tartness on the back of the throat. This may go well as a dessert beer; although most such beers are pretty strong, this 4.9% abv brew would suit a lighter palate.

12oz bottle. I was pretty hyped to try this one after having Oso’s rather excellent Prickly Pear Infection Groove. While this has some unique kiwi-agave tones, this pales is comparison. The base beer is sort of sweet, not really complementing the fruit so well. OK for what it is.

Pours a clear dark amber from a bottle with a thin head. Fruity aroma, kind of like juicy juice. Not that good.

12 oz bottle. Clear copper in color with some spotty white head. Aroma is light fruits (grapes and berries) Some sugar. Almost like a Kool- Aid berry flavor from the 1980’s.

The pear and grapes come through in the flavor. This beer is mildly sugary with the body and texture on the thin / watery side. The carbonation is a bit too high and it really reminds me of what a carbonated Kool -Aid would taste like. Is this even beer? A pear cider? It’s not awful but I’m not ever going to drink it again.

Raspberry, perfeumey nose, some melon rind. Clear copper, thin head. Drier than expected, malt prominent. Raspberry at midpalate and beyond. Light body, moderate carbonation. Eh, it’s a fruit beer, kind of artificial tasting.

Pours gold into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention craters as it recedes. Fruity, tart prickly pear aromas. Mild, tart fruit upfront turning to marshmallow in the medium length finish. Tastes like a white Smartie.... and I never know what thats supposed to taste like. My favorite that I have tried from Shiner.

Bottle. Sweet artificial fruit / Jolly Rancher aroma. Clear copper with a small off-white head. Watery artificial fruit flavor with a faint bitterness in the finish. Light watery body, soft carbonation. Blech.
