Clear pale golden color with a thin white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Aroma of herbs, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of herbal yeast, spice, fruit and a touch of hops. The finish is fruity and spicy with a floral yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

Beer and Smoke, Brooklyn bottle: pours orange gold with a white head. Aroma is herbs... Marjoram I suppose, though I cannot recall what it smells like Fresh, along with your typical bunch of saison flavours. Lavender sticks out as is expected. Taste is moderately bitter. Very dry and very herbal. Some aftertaste. Body is easy to drink but has some umph. Not bad.

Pour is a hazy orange with a large white head. Aroma is a honeysuckle combined with nice herbal mix. Flavor is herbal and esters with dry white wine finish. I get a lot from the bay leaves, not much from the lavender and I dont know what marjoram looks are taste like but this beer is a jumble of herbs all on top of each other. It’s still a decent saison but less would have been better here.

Pours a coppery-amber from a bottle. Big lavender aroma, with a slight bay addition. Not sure what the marjoram adds. Lavender flavor as well, with a slightly bay/floral herbal quality as well. Typical saison barnyardiness as well. Good as long as you like lavender.

Tap, hollywood. Clear pale. Leathery tasting palate form the start. Disappointingly bitter in that I was expecting a little more tartness. Some bandaid starts to set in. Medicinal bitterness near the end. Not as expected, but not bad overall. Can’t really taste the lavender in this one.

Beer that was served during the Keynote speech given by Sam C. Mostly clear light amber in color. Holy earthy spice’s this one is loaded with em. There’s a saison in there somewhere but damn is this spicy, not for me.

12 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 5/12/2016. Pours slightly hazy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lavender, rosemary, sage, peach, lemon, orange, pear, apple, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, honey, spicy rye, toasted bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, herbal spices, and moderate bready/rye malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lavender, rosemary, sage, peach, lemon, orange, pear, apple, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, honey, spicy rye, toasted bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lavender, rosemary, sage, peach, lemon, orange, pear, apple, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, honey, spicy rye, toasted bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, herbal spices, and moderate bready/rye malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/grainy/spicy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a great spiced saison style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, herbal spices, and moderate bready/rye malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. This feels like a more balanced and toned down Saison Du Buff. A very enjoyable offering.

Thinking this is a saison, I poured this into a tulip.
I left it as is and here’s the rest.
The appearance was slightly burnt orange color with a decent transparency about it. Carbonation runs upward in the center (due to the tulip, I get it). Rimmed lacing clings to the sides and then eventually slides into the beer.
The smell starts off more dried florally sweet, light grape must, bready yeast. More of the \"lavender\" shows up as it warms.
The taste follows through in the previously mentioned aromas - sweet and bready. Florally sweet in the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation runs light, fairly decent stickiness, but not cloying.
Overall, saison or vegetable/spice/herbal beer? I think saison, all of the normal qualities of one seem to come out and I’d have this again.

Sample at Savor 2016. Hazy golden amber color, white head. Aroma of sage and mixed spice. Taste is herbal citrus. OK.
