Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle poured into a cup. Black with small beige. Aroma is hot peppers, medium body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is hot peppers and a little chocolate.

On tap at Big Hunt pours an opaque, oily black with some beige head and plenty of legs. Nose is very nice and inviting, plenty of molasses and chocolate, cane sugar, some raisin, a little pencil lead. Flavor is even nicer, sweet with milk chocolate, cinnamon, raisins, cola, malt, mild pepper, a little inky. Finishes a touch sweet, a touch spicy. Very well done.

Bottle sample at Savor. Pretty much black color, small beige head. Nice aroma of dark chocolate with pepper flesh, vanilla. Taste has pretty hefty chili heat on a dark roasty background, tannins and vanilla lurking in the background. Definitely a sipper, and a good festival beer.

2 oz blank bottle pour at SAVOR 2016’s Country Boy/Red Hen beer and food pairing salon on Saturday. Paired with coconut milk panna cotta with spiced hazelnut crumble. Black with light tan head, some brownish hues. Aromas of dark chocolate, dried chili peppers, roasty notes. Tastes of dark chocolate, oak, dried chili peppers. Full body with a dry, warm and spicy finish. Food pairing cut down the heat nicely.

Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours black with a creamy, tan head. The nose has some lightly tangy dark fruits, berries, chillies, cocoa. Light-medium sweet flavour with up-front chilli kick, hints of mint, baking cocoa, scorched earth, dried berries. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish - bother from the chilli burn and the alcohol - with further notes of bittersweet chocolate, raisins, leathery berries. The chilli is probably a bit too strong. Otherwise, a good novelty.
