Yuengling Black & Tan models a traditional English Half & Half. Introduced in 1986, Yuengling produced one of the first hand-crafted draft blends to lead this style of American brewing. Black & Tan combines 60% of our popular Dark Brewed Porter and 40% of our Premium Beer to create a brew that is rich and dark in color with hints of caramel and coffee from the dark roasted malts.

bottle. Haven’t had a black & tan in a long time. Pretty good flavor and easy to drink. Got from a friend who purchased in Ohio. Not bad

12 ounce bottle. Pours a deep brown color with a medium white head. A light malty nose with some toast. Easygoing, caramel, a bit of roasted malts, chocolates, a bit watery. Pretty nice. Finishes light metallic and earthy flavor.

Off the shelf in PA. Enjoyed from the bottle. Looks like a porter with more carbonation, smells of roasted almonds and caramel. Taste is more like this but perhaps more bland and stale than I would hope. High carbonation, light body.

Catch up rating from notes, 2012: Bottle from my brother in law. Tasting American beer for the first time after a six year diet of German-Belgian beer. Pours out near black with small foamy beige head. Nutty, roasty aroma, somewhere in between a dunkel and a schwarzbier. Taste also features the roasty malts, with a hint of sweetness, and a small bitter bite at the back. Thank you Yuengling for what you do!

12oz bottle courtesy of Grant. Ruby cornered black brown. Big, soapy beige head. Mild chocolate, caramel aroma. Steady sweet chocolate covered caramel flavor, medium bodied, not unlike a Schwarzbier. Some faint balancing bitterness. A simple, standard offering, but still enjoyable enough. Some lactic chocolate undertones, heading in the direction of Milk Stout. OK.

This brew pours a dark brown color with a thin light tan head that bubbles away rather quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and a bit of caramel. Light body with a sweet roasty character and notes of caramel and earthy hops. The finish is short and malty. Barely average overall.
