Black & Tan combines 60% of our popular Dark Brewed Porter and 40% of our Premium Beer to create a brew that is rich and dark in color with hints of caramel and coffee from the dark roasted malts.

Thanks to my parents for bringing this back from the States. Pours a brown colour with a frothy beige head and a little lacing. Roasted malt scent with some notes of dark fruits and other fruity yeast. The taste is milder with the dark fruits, burnt malts and yeast. Mild bitterness in the finish. A decent macro brew that mixes a porter and a premium lager.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Tan head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Caramel aromas. Sweet caramel and sour cardboard upfront turning to dry, smoky chocolate in the medium length finish.

354ml [sic!] bottle. Darkest brown colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Dark malty aroma, minimally smoky, hints of coffee. Taste is dark malty, minimally smoky, cautious hints of coffee, a touch of artificial sweetener and malt lozenge with sweetness of the kind "headache ahead".

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance has a pitch black colored body with barely any head and barely any lacing. There is no carbonation to be seen rising.
The smell has some light coffee with plum with some gentle maltiness here and there.
The taste is basically the same, and not showcasing anything spectacular.
The palate, it sits about a light to medium with nothing harsh on the tongue. I would say this was fairly drinkable.
Overall, well, I’m not exactly sure what to say other than I’m glad I tried it. I don’t think I’ll come back to this, but its not exactly a bad beer.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of Boooosters. Thanks. Pours a fairly clear orangish brown appearance with a brown head. Caramel / toasted malty, light chocolate, mild cardboard aroma. Slightly metallic and a bit stale. Burnt sugar / caramel, herbal, light chocolate flavor. Not the most cellarable beer in the world.

Bottle. A- Chocolate, coffee, roasty. A- Black color, dark liquid, white head. T- Bitter and malty. Not balanced well. P- Full body, average texture, flat carbonation, sharp finish. O- A disappointing black & tan, I can’t even describe the sensation I had while drinking this beer.

Bottle thanks to Jason. Pours a clear deep amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of dark grains with a touch or roasted malts and a hint of sweetness. Flavor starts with bread and dark grains with a hint of roast. Overall a bit thin.
