The seductive, smoky, burnt-caramel aroma leads to complex malt flavours, roast barley notes and hints of spicy resin and vanilla oak in the finish.

This dark-mahogany old ale has been brewed again exclusively for this Wetherspoon real ale festival 2015.

Cask pour at Special Brews. Pours a nitro like copper brown with tons of foam. Odd compost malt aroma. Flavor is pleasant. Rich malt up front, with a soft bittering compliment finish. A hint of fruit in there. Overall, all flavor is light, but this drinks very nicely. I unique cask offering for my records. Pretty good.

Cask at the Montague Pyke. It pours clear deep amber with a decent beige head. The nose is initially fairly restrained... yet rich, dried fruits, blackcurrant, fruit cake, jam, wood and leather. The taste is rich, woody, earth, old leather sofa, cereal, toasty grain, berry, some bitterness and chewy malt with a firm, dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Although it doesn’t wow me, it does have some nice subtle nuances to it.
