Other Half, Brooklyn tap: pours black with beige head. Aroma is fruity, spicy, lightly citrusy, not really that roasty. Taste is super smooth and frity for a black IPA. Slight spicy and roasty finish. Interesting BIPA.

16oz can in IP trade with AFHops, thanks! Pours tan/lt brown foamy tight head, nearly a nitro look that laces nicely-black with some red tint. A-citrus-orange/2nd pine, malty. T-sweet roasty/chocolate-med/dk malt and citrus/pine hop bite. The hop bite at the back end, and at the back of the mouth/top of the throat offsets/hides what I feel is a bit soft on carbonation. This impression does lessen as the beer warms, as does the alcohol which was not apparent on the nose and was reasonable when cold. Nice way to relax less than an hour after returning from NH.

16 oz. can purchased at Spruce Creek Provisions. Sticker on four pack is 11-11-16. Pitch black color, thin lasting tan bubbles of head. Good carbonation level. Aroma is aroma is good amounts of citrus, earthquakes pine and roasted grain.
This brew has three surprising qualities. 1. The citrus is bolder then the pine. Resin comes off mellow. 2. The alcohol is damn near completely hidden at 11.5 %. 3. The mouthfeel is smooth and inviting. Bitterness is mild with a lot of citrus pop. This is awesome. Top in the black IPA style for my tastes.

12oz can pours a murky black with some cloudy, beige head. Nose has mild soap and herbs and pith. Flavor has more of the malt, toast and pith, meat, soap. Bitter finish.

From a 12oz can at the DC tasting on March 25, 2016. Poured a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma was light roasted notes, citrus. Flavor had notes of roasted boozy chocolate, light hops.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a black as hell ink color. A thin white rim of a foamy head clings around the side of the glass. Delicately dissipates and forms speckled lacing around the glass.
The smell had a huge sweet dark cocoa bean combining with sweet melon/honeydew. Light citrus intertwines in and around the aroma.
The taste wraps up together the aromas tightly and leads to a sticky aftertaste. Smooth on the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation rides fairly low. Sticky sweetness on the mouthfeel. ABV is well hidden.
Overall, whoah, where did this come from? I wasn’t expecting this little surprise. Fans of black ales should be wishlisting this.

Can thanks to Chip. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast, pine, dank, chocolate. Medium mouth, rich roast, pine, chocolate, light bitter finish, very good.
