A Big Boozy Blonde was brewed with a boatload of oats, giving it a creamy sweet mouthfeel with a hoppy blast. It’s like a powdered sugar donut topped with deliciously dank resinous hops. Chow down!

Bottle split in the hotel lobby, RBWG ’16, 03/02/16. Clear golden orange with a decent off white covering. Nose is bitter orange, straw, pine needle, toasted malt, melon. Taste is caramel malt forward, pine needle, leafy hops, grapefruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness in the close. Decent.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a bright orange gold color with endless cascading tiny bubbles leading to a thick creamy beige head. Aroma is pine and dank citrus. Flavor is a mix of sweet malt and citrusy bitter hops. The oats lend a creamy mouthfeel. There is a big boozy prescence here. Some buttery maltiness in midtaste. Complex bitter hops in finish. This is a big beer that does not disappoint. Worth seeking out.

650 ml bottle purchased at Spruce Creek Provisions, Kittery. Orange in color with some thin legs of lacing. Aroma is a blast of citrus and mild floral notes.
I love the large addition of the oats. I think it makes this stand apart from most others in the style. Creamy full in body and texture. It does have a sweetness that helps for balance without becoming overly sugary. I was skeptical on how sweet this could have been. (I would NOT touch an aged bottle) Because there is no doubt that sweetness will invade. Overall, this is a nice drink. The mouthfeel wins me over on this one.

Pours deep gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Tropical fruit and resin aromas. Dark hot caramel and dough upfront turning to bitter earth and resin before the lasting citrus finish.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/14/2015. Pours slightly hazy orange/amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berry, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of bright/dank citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berry, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, berry, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/dank citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Good amount of dryness from resinous bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible DIPA! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/dank citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Lingering white foaminess clings to the glass nicely.
The smell had some bitter piney and citrusy hops playing with a subtle caramel malt base.
The taste was pretty much the same with a lingering bitter aftertaste. Quick dry finish.
On the palate, the oats help to smooth things out a bit and add a nice semi-slick to creamy feel on my tongue.
Overall, I’d say this was a pretty good DIPA that I could see myself having again.
