Draft pour at The Sovereign. Poured a dark golden yellow-orange color with a white head. Aroma was grassy notes, light sweetness - smells like a gluten free beer, that slight plastic fruit sweetness.

4 oz pour on draft at The Sovereign shared by radagast83, thanks Chris! Hazy straw yellow with off-white head. Aromas of honey, syrup, sweet potato. Tastes of honey, herbs, baked sweet potato. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

Bottle. Cloudy golden body with a huge, meringue-like white head, lasting. Aroma of mustiness, cobwebs, toasted grain, herbs, lemon. Hint of clove and pepper. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet, moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Taste of spice and pepper. Not as crisp as Saison Dupont, but only by a hair. Clean. Bright. Refreshing.

Bottle brought by me to WTWBA. Nose is herbal and farmhouse. Tastes of vanilla, honey, eucalyptus, cloves, pepper, earthy bitters, and peac. Finishes dry. Nice beer.

Typical Dupont perfect appearance.
Lemons, dough, light plaster and all the usual suspects are present here. Light herbs and some citric-like acidity, with succulent honeyed maltiness. Snappy phenols help to dry things out on the nose; the signature Dupont yeastiness is here in all its glory. I think the Foret/Moinette Bio whatever the hell you want to call it is less hoppy than the regular Saison? Seems to me, anyways. Nose is still more similar than the flavor.
The flavor, while having yet a delicious maltiness, comforting, creamy texture and tight carbonation, seems different to me than the regular saison in two main ways. First, the beer is less hoppy. Both in flavor and bitterness. Maybe not incredibly so, but seems noticeable. Secondly, and the first part is, to some degree, responsible for this, it seems much sweeter. I went back and reread my reviews for the Foret and they are almost exactly what I get here, almost 10 years later. Just too much sweetness and doughiness, with slightly amplified fruity esters (pineapple, peach). It’s not offensively sweet, and if I’d never had the regular saison, this would probably impress me more, but drinking this just makes me long for the more dry, crisp, all around more exquisitely delicate beer that is Vieille Provision.

750 c&c from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy orange tinged gold with a creamy/foamy white head. Aroma of light stone fruit, with some spice and maybe earth notes. Med body. Flavor is light fruit ester. Banana and clove are present. It’s somewhat earthy. Tastes like nice saison and finishes well towards dry, even bitter. Quite nice. Best gluten free I think I’ve ever had. Barley is best.
