The concept for out third Hop Program beer, Beer III, was a hoppy black ale incorporating Citra, Lemondrop. Cascade, and Falconer's Flight hops. While dark in appearance, Beer III presents with massive hop aroma and flavor. It finishes dry with a touch of chocolate and coffee lingering on the palate. We hope you enjoy our latest hoppy creating. Cheers!

Bottle @ home, thanks to Lukaduke. Pours a murky, deep brown appearance with an amazingly, long lasting, thick brown head. Aroma has roasted coffee, pine, spruce, mint, some char, graham cracker, and chocolate. Medium body. Medium high bitterness. Medium low sweetness. Tons of burnt and roasted malt in the flavor, especially piney in the mouth. Light citrus. Clean flavor and nice appearance but it’s a little forward on the roast and spruce/pine. Solid Black IPA but not my favorite offering from Maine Beer.

Heavily hopped with roasted malt. Very balanced. A Little sweetness under the roast and where !many black ipa’s are a mess, this is well made. Very good and top of its style.

Bottle shared by Jack, thanks! Pours near black with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy dark grains with musty pine and a bit of grass underlying. Flavor has earthy pine with a musty dark grain and a bit of grassy hops.

Charred beef, rosehips, grapefruit, smoke aroma. Black, thick tan head, nice lacing. Charred oak, grapefruit. Medium body, soft carbonation. Not particularly good with Indian food, but a tasty beer.

500ml bottle at the March DC Tasting. Poured a clear dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma was roasted malts, light burnt notes. Pine resin is heavy in this one. A touch roasty, but overly well hopped, leaving the roasted character in the background.
