Music has been a part of Dogfish Head since before Dogfish Head. So it’s a natural fit for a brewery that makes ‘Analog Beer for the Digital Age’ to be the Official Beer of Record Store Day, a celebration of the unique culture of record stores and the special role they play in their communities.

Of course, as the Official Beer of Record Store Day, we had to create a special brew for the occasion! Insert Beer To Drink Music To. This Belgian-style Tripel is brewed with sweet orange peel, green cardamom, peppercorns and vanilla. It’s the perfect marriage of beer and music and best when paired with some of your favorite tunes.

Clocking in at 9% ABV, Beer To Drink Music To is a golden orange brew with forward notes of toffee, cardamom, cloves and subtle notes of vanilla.

12 oz bottle. Lovely Belgian aroma with lots of clove, banana, pepper, lemon, earth. Pours slightly hazy new penny copper with a medium cream-colored head with decent retention. Taste is spicy with all aroma descriptors, along with the vanilla; it’s a tad boozy, but not too detrimental. Body is a little thin for style. A nice tripel; best Dogfish beer I’ve had in awhile.

Overripe apple and pear. Cloudy copper, fine floaties, medium head. Clove, peach, pear. Full body, easy carbonation. Not a style I normally like, but this had nice spice notes to make it interesting.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home before & after a gelato walk within the neighborhood on a brisk mid May evening. Appearance is golden with a thin white head. Aroma is rich in caramel malt and Belgian ale yeast, smells sweet. Taste is nice, light pepper and clove notes, it is a tad sweet but not overpowering, overall pretty good. Not a fan of the name, but this one is decent.

Pour is a clear bronze with a small white head. Aroma is yeasty ester with a bit of sweetness. Flavor is a definite Belgian yeast with more sweet malt and candi sugar. A bit fruity but also a bit too sweet. This was and ok attempt at a triple. It’s very sweet but estery.

Sample at Bob’s Bar during the "Madtree Brewing @ Bob’s!" event on 04/14/2016. Clear dark golden color with a medium thin white head that evaporates steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, spice and yeast. Medium to full body with flavors of Belgian yeast, citrus, vanilla and spice. The finish is fruity with an herbal yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Andover Liquors. Aroma is Belgian yeast and fruity esters with mild cardamom/spice. Appearance is mild hazy light brown/orange with finger-width foamy white head with poor retention, no sparkle and trace lacing. Taste is as aroma but also with mild orange, cloves. Alcohol hidden. Palate is medium bodied with smooth, velvety texture and average carbonation (late zing) and long yeasty, fruity, spicy finish. Overall, a decent beer with hints of complexity but won’t knock your socks off.
