Music has been a part of Dogfish Head since before Dogfish Head. So it’s a natural fit for a brewery that makes ‘Analog Beer for the Digital Age’ to be the Official Beer of Record Store Day, a celebration of the unique culture of record stores and the special role they play in their communities.

Of course, as the Official Beer of Record Store Day, we had to create a special brew for the occasion! Insert Beer To Drink Music To. This Belgian-style Tripel is brewed with sweet orange peel, green cardamom, peppercorns and vanilla. It’s the perfect marriage of beer and music and best when paired with some of your favorite tunes.

Clocking in at 9% ABV, Beer To Drink Music To is a golden orange brew with forward notes of toffee, cardamom, cloves and subtle notes of vanilla.

12 ounce bottle. Pours bright amber. Small beige head. Perfumy orange and cardamom notes in nose. Sweet candy malt upfront. Notes of sweet orange and vanilla as well. Cardamom and pepper are there also, as advertised. Obvious Belgian notes, yeasty, sweet and boozy as Tripels tend to be. This one hits home. Brewed for Record Store Day, I remember how I looked forward to going to the local record store to buy the latest record album or single. When Dogfish Head releases a new brew, I get the same buzz. Way to bring it home DFH!

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan body. Thin, oily head. The malt accentuates the big, doughy malt..which makes me wonder what a straight up vanilla tripel would taste like. The spices, herbs, tinctures, ect are not really a bonus as usual. Has that cinnamon vanilla tea thing going on. One of those beers where you wish you could taste the base beer. Not really what I want in a Tripel, but an OK and unique beverage.

Draft @ Sunset Grill and Tap, Allston. Hazy golden with slowly dying head. Aroma is slight vanilla hints with strong peppercorn, light yeast.

Mild peppercorn up front, yeasty body/ medium with a light vanilla finish. Alcohol is noticeable bit doesn’t ruin the flavor. Mostly subtle. The 1st Dogfish brew I have actually liked in a LONG while.
