Music has been a part of Dogfish Head since before Dogfish Head. So it’s a natural fit for a brewery that makes ‘Analog Beer for the Digital Age’ to be the Official Beer of Record Store Day, a celebration of the unique culture of record stores and the special role they play in their communities.

Of course, as the Official Beer of Record Store Day, we had to create a special brew for the occasion! Insert Beer To Drink Music To. This Belgian-style Tripel is brewed with sweet orange peel, green cardamom, peppercorns and vanilla. It’s the perfect marriage of beer and music and best when paired with some of your favorite tunes.

Clocking in at 9% ABV, Beer To Drink Music To is a golden orange brew with forward notes of toffee, cardamom, cloves and subtle notes of vanilla.

12 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 1/27/2016. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lemon, apricot, orange peel, pear, apple, peppercorn, clove, cardamom, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, light honey/vanilla, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, apricot, orange peel, pear, apple, peppercorn, clove, cardamom, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, light honey/vanilla, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, apricot, orange peel, pear, apple, peppercorn, clove, cardamom, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, light honey/vanilla, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly sticky/grainy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a damn good spiced tripel style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle: pours orange with a small, loose white head. Aroma is sugar, spice, banana, and light citrus. Taste is rather sweet and spicy. Body is medium. Loght hoppiness. Restrained. Maybe would have been better if I had been listening to my records.

Bottle: Clear, bubbly amber with a small, off-white head. Tangerine, vanilla, banana aroma. Taste is sweet, yeasty, vanilla, tangerine, caramel malt....very sweet.....with a little spice from the peppercorn. Really tasty.....but the sweetness gets to be a bit distracting after a while.

12 oz bottle poured. Clear penny copper color with a lasting foam head. Sweet, fruity aroma. Banana here? Some spice. Flavor is steady metallic, spicy carb, and an earthy fruit finish. Top of the line for unique brews. Not bad.

Bottle at the March DC Tasting, provided by DCLawyer. Thanks... Poured a clear golden amber color, fizzy white head. Aroma was sweet malts, lots of booze. Another under-attenuated special beer from Dogfish.
