Bottle thanks to SHIG! Pours a near clear slightly deep amber with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of wine barrel supported by sweet grains and a bit of toffee. Flavor has an interesting combination of sweet wheat, toffee and a wine barrel note in the finish.

Bottle from the tasting room. Pours dark brown with a tan smear. Aroma of dark fruit and dark malt/toffee. Med body. Flavor is a bit like prune with some oak and dark malt. It’s really fairly tasty. A bit of chocolate plays with the fruit. Liking it.

375 ml bottle courtesy of SHIG, thanks for the opportunity. 2014 printed on the label. Deep ruby/ brown color. Aroma is light yeast with mild tones of oak and grapes.

The body is medium and has a soft carbonation level. The flavor shows sugar, and lots of vinous hints with a oak finish. Secondary flavors of light yeast and dried fruits. I Have never had a weizenbock in a barrel, pretty cool to try.

From my Anchorage haul.
This was poured into a weizen glass.
The appearance was a nice looking dark brown color with a thin film of a white head. It dissipated within a light half minute leaving barely any lacing.
The smell had a strong boozy sweet wheatiness with a light brown sugar to it. Light caramel malts make a slight showing but maintains a nice background as well.
The taste was sweet and had a nice wheat backup. There’s a nice sweet caramel strong boozy aftertaste leading into a semi-dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium to heavy on the body leaning towards a decent sipping quality, is it the barrel-aged quality that does this...possibly.
Overall, weizenbock - yes, barrel-aged - yes. Would I have this again, YES!
