For this version of Stone Enjoy By IPA we thought: “We don’t always have a filter, so why should our beer?” By skipping a step and letting this devastatingly fresh, golden-hued double IPA go un filtered, the beer takes on a hazy appearance and its peach and tropical fruit hop aroma are intensified. So though it may sound like it, this missed step was no misstep.

Like the other IPAs in this series, this version is brewed specifically NOT to last.

Although it’s very similar to our regular version of Stone Enjoy By IPA (it is the same recipe after all), leaving the beer unfiltered results in a perceptible change with the hop aroma. It is more fruit-forward than our filtered version, which has more of a balance between dank and fruit. It’s a little challenging to brew, since we’re used to filtering our beers, but a fun one, with much of the same hop intensity as our original version.

Can. The drink by 1/1/20 version of this one. Hazy gold with a huge head. Aroma was grapefruit. Taste was sweet upfront, bitter in the middle with a hoppy bitter finish.

I wouldn’t want it to go bad in the next few minutes… Stone Enjoy by 01.01.2024 Unfiltered IPA 9.4% Great looking gold color with fairly thick dense white foam which leaves a nice film on the top of the brew. The aroma is very much classic bitter pine and citrus west coast IPA. Dank and crazy bitter, I’ve not had this type of IPA in ages.

Bottle. 01.01.21. Pretty great nose, grapefruit, passion fruit, tangerine, very bright fruity hops. Deep golden orange, slightly hazy, with a high, thick head. Sweet honey malts, citrus, stone fruits, tropical fruit, grass. Quite boozy. Finish is bitter, lasts a long time. Also funky tropical fruits. Not bad at all.

The aromas are fresh grapefruit hops and caramel malt. Flavors are like nose, very bittersweet with a little resin coming in and complimented with good carbonation. Full body with a bittersweet finish. Really good beer. they said it's unfiltered but it's pretty clear.

12 oz can as Enjoy By 07.04.20, 2 months late. Pours golden with a light particle haze and a white head. Citrusy aroma, some tropical, some caramel malt. Flavor has citrusy grapefruit, light pine, some pale malt. Still solid even though it's expired.

Quite hazy deep golden and orange coloured body with a very soapy and quite tall, off-white head, about four centimetres tall that stays afloat for a long time. Aroma of alcohol, crisp grassy, citrusey and very herbal hopswith a lot of alpha acids, quite a bit of sweetness from fruits and a lot of malt as a good backbone. Medium-bodied; Rich deep flavour of alcohol, strong citrus, a lot of dry grassy and herbal flavours and showing almost a perfect balance of significant hops and associated bitterness with a lot of malt - mostly dry and grassy, with a nice layer of sweet and astringency from the alcohol and residual sugars. Aftertaste shows all the flavours melded into one consistent package, which has the right balance and potency - the hops hit strong, the malt is supportive and the complexity is nice, especially for the style. Overall, a nice Imperial IPA which shows some classy notes and a complex, dry and bitter West Coast IPA vibe that actually make this worth drinking/finding from Stone (a surprise, actually!), even a few days past the 'due date'. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 18-December-2019 for US$2,99 sampled a bit less than a month later on 14-January-2020 at my house in Washington a few blocks away.

01.01.20 can, thanks to Carlson. Pours a clear, bronze color, with a medium, frothy, white head. The aroma is orange juice, pine, white sugar, and basil. Sweet and juicy, with a mellow, pleasant bitterness. Light to medium body, with a dusty, pulpy palate. This is a solid IPA.

Can. Hazy golden body. Frothy white head. Aroma of toasted grain, resin, grapefruit, citrus, lemon. Starts sweet, finished moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Taste of grapefruit, pine, grain, alcohol. Good balance.
