A few 12oz tulips at City Taphouse in DC. Pours a translucent yellow with some ringing, white head. Big nose, honey and spice mostly, a little straw and lemon lurking. Flavor is YUGE with honey sweetness, plenty of spice too with clove dominating, straw, lemon, light candy as well. Sticky finish. Drinks heavy.

Clear golden coloured body with a very thin off-white head, showing some orange and light copper tints when held up to a light. Aroma of funk, brett, yeast, honey, alcohol, light spices and a kick of raisins and other added fruits. Medium to Full-bodied; Sweet flavour at first from fruits along with a large yeast complexity with some light brett and bready notes. Aftertaste shows some malt complexities and light spices with herbs, grass and hay all noticeable. Overall, this is a very hard beer to place in a style and perhaps due to this, a hard beer to rate accordingly. It’s not bad, but lacks sheer depth while shows some complexities in certain areas. The mead flavours are nil, the brett shows more than anything else and the alcohol is hidden, unless this truly is at 7,8%. I sampled this thirty-two ounce growler fill from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia from earlier today on 26-February-2016 for US$11,00 sampled later in t he day; This was listed on the blackboard at Whole Foods at 11,0% abv, but that could be suspect, and I’d rather trust the site or ChurchKey, plus it doesn’t taste anywhere close to double-digits.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Shared by Alejandro/Gene, thanks! Hazy yellow with off-white head. Aromas of spices, honey, mead. Tastes of honey, spices, light mead, herbs. Medium-light body with a dry finish. The best mead barrel aged Christmas beer I’ve ever had!
