Enjoy by 02.14.16 and consumed on 01.22.16. The 22oz bomber pours up with a dark mahogany colored body that has some deep infrared hues and supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up tangelo, grapefruit and almost candy like sweet clementine as well as thin slivers of dark roasted malts and chocolate malts. The taste delivers rich dark roasted malts surrounded by a sea of bitter and slightly juicy grapefruit and tangerine like citrus hoppiness. The dark roasted malts take on a thin soft chocolate edge to midway before giving way to a growing bitter to near resiny hoppiness heading into the finish. Solid.

22 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 1/9/2016. Pours fairly clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, papaya, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate roasted malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, papaya, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, papaya, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, lemon/orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate roasted malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, sticky, and lightly creamy/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic Black DIPA! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate roasted malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bomber from Whole Foods Charlottesville. 02.14.16 vintage. Dark brown, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, piney hops. The taste is intensely dark roasted malt, soy, coffee, piney and resin hops. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.

Bomber. Enjoy By 2.14.16. Aroma is extremely piney backed by some roastiness, earthiness, root beer barrels, toasted marshmallow. Pours black with a thick beige head with excellent retention and lots of splotchy lava lamp lace; ruby red highlights appear when held up to the light. Taste is medium-level bitter* backed by some candy sweetness; it’s roasty with lots of citrus and pine notes.The best dark hoppy beer I’ve had since Gigantic’s Slip Into Darkness, but maybe it’s the only dark hoppy beer I’ve had since then. Ha ha. I don’t drink this style all that often anymore.



*After half a glass, that "medium-level bitter" lingers and builds on the tongue long after the swallow. It’s accumulative bitterness for sure.

Clear dark red brown beer, creamy beige irregular head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit cheesy, dank, smelly, some malts, little roasted. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit grassy, green hops, little citrus, fruity, sweet, caramel, hops. Aftertaste: grassy hops, soft roast, little fruity, grapefruit, very bitter, dry. Pretty nice stuff.
