Keg at City Beer - SF. With the RBWG 2016 crew. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. There’s an odd pukey note in this. Some bready malts, booze, maybe a bit of butyric acid, some sour bite. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, with woody dryness, dried berries, bread, toasted caramel. So so.

Bomber from the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of dark fruit - not exactly raisin/prune/date. Maybe red berry. Full bodied. Flavor is dark fruit, almost cherry, with chocolat, dark treacle, and an earthy finish suggesting coffee. Maybe a tad too much fruit - but that’s just me. Pretty nice, but seems more Belgian Strong than Quad. But that’s just me

Keg at City Beer, SF, 28/01/16. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is chocolate, spice, dates, rich malt, fruit cake mix. Taste comprises tangy dark fruit shreds, lactic tang, spice, toffee, fruit loaf. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok but lacks depth for the ABV.

Draught. Deep brown liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of raw sugar, raisins, dark fruit, chocolate, light licorice and light red berries. Taste is light to medium sweet, light sour and light bitter with notes of raisins, raw sugar and light alcohol. Medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Decent, but not up to snuff with the Belgian originals. Weirdly sour as well.

Draft: Poured a pitch black with a tan head. Aroma is woodsy and fruit. Taste is super vanilla, dark fruits, little boozy that clung to the palate.
