A Belgian-style abbey ale crafted like those that Trappist monks brew for their own session beer. It is light bodied, light in color and relatively lower in alcohol with spicy phenolics and complex fruity esters of cherries, nectarines, peaches and bubblegum with a characteristic slightly tart and dry finish from the Belgian yeast.

12 oz. can. Beautiful, unclear orange, with a big, bubbly, eggshell head. The nose is orange peel, bubblegum, cardamom, spruce, and hay. Semi-sweet, with a mild bitterness. Light to medium body, dry and astringent, with a crisp, clean finish. This is a light and simple beer, but nice, refreshing, and interesting.

Can. Pours an effervescent clear gold. Big white head leaves a thin film and spotty lacing. Light, American version of a Belgian. Light aromas and tastes of fruit; especially peaches. Taste is somewhat grainy with a bit of spice from the hops. Thin mouthfeel with a dry finish. I think this IS what they were going for; a decent sessionable.

Slightly hazy golden yellow body with a frothy ugly white head, about three centimetres tall. Aroma of wheat, yeast, corn, caster sugar, hay, grass and a little bit of coriander seed. Light-bodied; Strong wheaty flavour with some unfinshed wort, a little yeast and a mellow spicey character that shows up near the end. Aftertaste shows some nice wheat dryness, all with a very easy-to-drink taste, but shows a bit too much funky corn and cardboardie flavours. Overall, a decent beer, but a bit too much of the offputting and funky flavours that make it not so great compared to others in the style. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 11-September-2015 for US$1,99 sampled on the train from Washington to New York on 18-December-2015.
