Bottle. Strong truffle, chocolate malt, and dry hay aroma. Black with small tan head. Moderately sweet truffle, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter dry hay/grass flavor. Nice body. Very good.

Black color, beige head, medium lasting. Aroma has notes of roasted malts with a high presence of chocolate notes. Flavor is slightly sweet, roasty, alcohol very good masked by cocoa notes. The final has some smoked hints, some wood and slightly sweetness. Creamy and smooth on palate.

Treated as an Imperial stout, this was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin off white to tan little head that quickly dissipated. Remnants of light lace roam here and there.
The smell starts off with sweet milk chocolate and subtle roasty tones. And then the cakey-ness and the sweet strawberries, subtle cherries come through and combine nicely.
The taste was somewhat sweet through the combination of the previously mentioned flavors. Long sweet aftertaste. Semi-dry to roasty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a light roasty to bitter feel hitting my tongue.
Overall, definitely, I liked it for the most part. I don’t see it as a spice/vegetable beer, seems its closer to an Imperial Stout. Whatever it is, I’d have again.

330 ml bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, marshmallow, toasted dark bread, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and cocoa/truffle notes; with good strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, marshmallow, toasted dark bread, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, marshmallow, toasted dark bread, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and cocoa/truffle flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding imperial chocolate stout. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and cocoa/truffle flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

330 ml bottle poured into a snifter. Black with less than a finger of light tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasty notes, a little graham cracker, espresso syrup, very subtle bit of soy sauce. Tastes of dark chocolate, some earthiness and saltiness possibly from the truffle, some roasty notes. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty good and unique, but maybe a bit too much black truffle.

Bottle. A- Iron, cocoa, roasty. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Cocoa, roasty, iron. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, dry irony finish. O- I hate to say it but I was exceptionally let down with this one. Looked great as I poured it but that iron in it was meh. Maybe it was from the truffle? I love truffle oil and everything this beer was supposed to be, but it just did not hold up.

On tap at Of Love and Regret, pours a murky, deep brown with some cloudy, off white head. Nose has a lot of cocoa powder, but earthy and bready, some grist, a little chocolate chew. Flavor has malt, a little cola, some vanilla, but mostly just cocoa powder. No trufffle anywhere to be found. Mostly dry finish.
