This northern Arizona favorite has a consistent nutty flavor with just a hint of spice in its depths. A slowly emerging bitterness crops up along the way and is unobtrusively incorporated into the smooth flow. It finishes with a gentle nuttiness and spiciness.
A 2002 Bronze Medal Winner in the North American Brewers' Association competition.

Big thanks to Barvarian Purity for the chance to taste this brew! He is a great trader. Pour is big and very dark, almost like a dark american lager. Somewhtat rootber candy aroma but just barely. No head just a tad of scum on the top, but in a good way. Ropey roasted round brown greets the tongue. Friendly and foolhearted with a tad of root beer in there I think. Hides the alky content well for a 6+%-er. Not many ale negative characteristics. Some CO2 but not much on the palate. Yep, ropey leather unique flavors abound on the finish. OK oak crik, thanks andre.....I owe you one!

Bottle thanks to mora2000. Pours with a fading off-white head and a clear brown body. Aroma of unfrermented wort with a lot of aromatics. Taste is sweet with acetaldehyde, and malt tea.

~6 oz taster as part of a taster tray at the Historic Harvey House in the Bright Angel Lodge at the Grand Canyon, Arizona. The pour is a clear brown golden with no head to speak of. The aroma is toasted nut malt along with a bit of mineral. The taste is the toasted nut malt plus a dry softly bitter floral towards the back. The palate is medium bodied with softer carbonation and a clean finish. 6,4,7,4,13 - 3.4

12 oz bottle from Sparky27. Pour is a chill hazed ruby brown with a smallish off white head. Aroma of sweetish hazelnut, decent blast of soft roasted crystal malt behind that. Taste is sweet chemical hazelnut, iced tea, some slight grassyiess behind that. Hint of diacetyl - which actually doesn’t detract too much, though it makes it taste more or less like an iced tea with artificial sweetener. Palate is thin, almost watery, lower carbonation. This one was pretty forgettable. Thanks Eric. 6,3,4,2,9 - 2.4

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet matly with notes of caramel as well as a light touch of phenol. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of dusty hops, caramel, and bread, leading to a dry caramel finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
