Draft. Orange brown color. Strong aroma. Sweet, fruit, alcohol. Light cherry astringency, lightly aged malts. It's s big smelling but not too big. Flavor loses a lot of bigness. More fruit yeastiness with some bitterness at the end that maybe a mix of malts and hops. Really fruity and light astringency is the key here. Send more like an olde ale than a cleaner American Impy Red.

8 oz tulip draft at Rock and Brews in Overland Park, Kansas. The pour is murky brown copper with a thin tan head head. Splotchy lace on the glass. The aroma is raisin, toffee, maybe a hint of cherry sweetness. The taste is big sweet malt - toffee, raisin fruit, caramel, spice floral herbal, and a bit of roast behind. Alcohol is evident. The palate is medium to heavy bodied with soft carbonation and the sweet herbal lingering. Not really my thing.

Minnesota Trip Beer #92. Keg at the brewery, 5/9/16. Clear dark red, thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of caramel, citrus, bits of coffee. The taste is caramel, toffee, Twizzler candy. Medium bodied.

12oz bottle. Pretty a much a style I never desire, the Imperial Red. Cherry, vanilla, big amber malt notes, not enough hops to balance it out. The rye really oversweetens an already sweet beer. Very malt forward, pretty drinkable for the ABV. OK.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear red with a touch of amber and a near white head that dissipates it the edges. Aroma has lots of sweet grains with hints of caramel and light fruits underlying. Flavor is similar with sweet grains and bread up front with a touch of light fruit in the finish.

750 bottle-thanks Jim-retaining tight tan head with trailing lace-dk copper. A-pine/orange, sweet med malt-caramel, yeast. T-orange/pine/spice hops, sweet med malt-caramel/roast, med fruit, yeast. Maybe some homebrew character, but not strong enough to detract.

Capped 750 from Guerde. What trading is all about! Thanks Andy! Pours almost cherry red with a slight beige head. Aroma is heavy malt - sort of like a rye wee heavy? Full bodied. Boy it is malty. There’s some roast malt, something a little nutty perhaps, and there are rye spice notes. It doesn’t finish exactly dry, but it is pretty close considering how malty it starts.

Pours a reddish-yellow/orange with smallish head. Aroma is dominated by malt and grain. Flavor is malty, a bit sweet (though not too much), with a rather unpleasant aftertaste, almost like paper or cardboard. There’s a "boozy" undercurrent to the flavor as well. It’s interesting, but not something I’d want to buy another bottle of.

Tap @ Northbound. Pours a clear, dark orange with a cream colored head. Toasty caramel, a bit sugary, toffee, herbal hoppy nose. Strong, somewhat boozy, caramel, grassy, herbal, sugary flavor. Pretty strong and sugary.
