Brewed in the style of an English Olde Ale, this ale balances the sweet heady aroma of spruce tips with the clean crisp finish of noble hops. Its malty richness is complemented by the warming sensation of alcohol.
Alaskan Winter is made from glacier-fed water, Sitka spruce tips and a generous blend of the finest quality European and Pacific Northwest hop varieties and specialty malts. Our water originates in the 1,500-square-mile Juneau Ice Field and from the more than 90 inches of rainfall we receive each year.

Poured a clear copper. Some caramel notes and a hint of spice but unspectacular

On tap at Brew'd Craft Pub, pours a clear copper amber with a small beige head. Aroma has some spruce tips, bready malt and a hint of toasted caramel. Flavour is very dry, with plenty of spruce, bready malt and a hint of subtly sweet toasted caramel. Nice use of the spruce tips, but it's a pretty average, forgettable beer. Decent.

15th Dec 2019, 355ml bottle while in California. Golden/amber body, wispy head, then nothing. Fairly sweet, spiced with something more than a spruce tips that's for sure. Struggled to enjoy this.

From a 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber with an ecru head. Aroma of toffee and spruce. Flavors are moderate sweet caramel with some berry-like notes.

Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma Is sweet caramel malt with some mint leaves. Flavor Is more sweetish caramel malt with some wintergreen and cherry. Kind of different and I liked it the more I drank it. Kind of a spruced up, no pun intended, amber ale

Here is a situation where I expected one thing and was very wrong. Draft pour pint at Frankies. Clear golden pour with an active fizz head. Sweet berry aroma and flavor. Very soft hops, and a fruity, sweet malt finish. Tasty.

A lot of unfermented sugar in here and some citrus tang. Very syrupy consistency, sweet and tangy finish. Doesn’t come together very well. Tap at Alaska Lodge at SEATAC.

This ale brewed with spruce tips is 6.4% and pours a pretty amber-orange that reminded me of an IPA. The nose is malty sweet toffee with a minty evergreen edge to it. Med-full bodied with a scratchy carbonation. The flavor is weirdly candyish - cotton candy, mint, toffee. The spruce tips come through in the finish. It is odd, like a sweet berry cake or pie that ends with mint and pine. Not at all what I was expecting but I’ll give them points for originality!
