Damm’s first Märzenbier was created in 1953. In the early years, it was only brewed between October and April and wasn’t made for the rest of the year. In 1955, as it had become a great success, it was decided to brew the Märzenbier all year round. It was given the name Voll-Damm. “Voll” in German means full, complete. The name suited a strong, intense and full-bodied beer. During cooking we add Nugget, Magnum and Taurus variety hops, which are responsible for the characteristic bitterness of Voll-Damm.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 3B). Bottle 25 cl - Batch L2812B13. AROMA: cornish aroma with some rice notes and a mild sweet background. clean lager profile with some sulphur. APPEARANCE: slight dark yellow color and translucent. thin white head with below-average retention. TASTE: initial sweet malty character with moderate bitterness and a semi-dry finish. low malty complexity. PALATE: medium-low body with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a marzen wannabe without complexity.

Pours a clear amber color, topped with an average just off-white head. Mild malty aroma, slight grainy notes and caramel. Sweet taste, with medium bitterness in the finish. Not bad, nothing special though.

--- Beer merged from original tick of Voll-Damm Doble Malta on 25 May 2018 at 13:28 - Score: 5

Many thanks for this bottle to teddybeer. Dark yellow/amber color, thin white head. Aroma is mostly malty/fruity: bread, grain, apricot. Very sweet finish.

Amber colour with full head. Grassy aroma. Sweet malty taste, but rather balanced to the hops.
