Damm’s first Märzenbier was created in 1953. In the early years, it was only brewed between October and April and wasn’t made for the rest of the year. In 1955, as it had become a great success, it was decided to brew the Märzenbier all year round. It was given the name Voll-Damm. “Voll” in German means full, complete. The name suited a strong, intense and full-bodied beer. During cooking we add Nugget, Magnum and Taurus variety hops, which are responsible for the characteristic bitterness of Voll-Damm.

Bottle from Cerveceria Catalana, Carrer de Mallorca, Barcelona. Pours golden brown, minimal head. Good body, quite strong alcoholic finish. Enjoyable with a tapas selection.

33cl can. Pours deep golden with a white head. Malty aroma with alcohol, caramel and some hops. Sweet and alcoholic with a light malt flavour and a lightly bitter finish with hints of herbs. To sweet and alcoholic for my taste. Drinkable, but far from a favourite. (2013-01-01)

20/11 0.25 l bottle from some store in Barcelona. It poured clear deep golden body with medium sized head. Strong malty and alcoholic aroma. Flavor was sweet malty as well, but not dangerous or unpleasant. Sugary, caramel, honey and biscuit malts. Thinner in body with longer sweetish and alcoholic finish. Not bad, rather mediocre strong lager, weak, but relatively pleasant. And surely better than many macro alternatives.

Pours amber with good initial head and lacing. Aroma is actually pretty malty - a lot better than I was expecting from this brewery. There’s some hints of a doppelbock here, with roast malt and chocolate notes. Taste has some bitterness and a little unpleasant sourness that gathers in the throat as the beer goes down. Bottle.

Can(donated by Jonas!):Deep golden, stable white lacy head, malty-bisquity-honeyish nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; alcohol in the sweet-malty finish. Sweet and monotonous.…

0.33l can. This is a crystal clear golden one with a big and somewhat lasting off-white lager head. It smells a bit like margarine and nuts mixed with something soft fruity - zesty perhaps and a hint of nail polish without acetone (yeah my girlfriend has one, so I know) The taste is not bad at all actually. It's medium-bodied, has a average carbonation level in a lily texture. Clear near raw alcohol in the really nutty and malty taste. Not unpleasant at all to drink this. Is's soft, yet it has a bit of a punch from the relatively high alcohol percent. Leaving a sweet and mildly dry taste in the mouth. Not great but still perhaps the best I've had from this brewery. 07.08.2012

0,33 boks kjøpt på kiosk i Barcelona: fint, tett skum. Mer smak (også humle) enn de vanlige spanske, men neppe en Märzenbier slik det står på boksen.
