Damm’s first Märzenbier was created in 1953. In the early years, it was only brewed between October and April and wasn’t made for the rest of the year. In 1955, as it had become a great success, it was decided to brew the Märzenbier all year round. It was given the name Voll-Damm. “Voll” in German means full, complete. The name suited a strong, intense and full-bodied beer. During cooking we add Nugget, Magnum and Taurus variety hops, which are responsible for the characteristic bitterness of Voll-Damm.

Weak bleach white head, carbonation plenty of, boring lager body. Tin and rotting cabbage on the nose like all them cheap Euro lagers. Now I feel like I should be a Russian football fan, or an English one, tipping over tables at the restaurants outside. But I drink it anyway: It’s a lot of cereal grain, maybe Frosted Flakes, sugary like that. Cloying finish. Hold your nose and chug, it’s the only way through.

On tap at Cerveseria in the Barcelona airport served in a 30 cl chalise. Clear deep golden/light amber with small white head. Aroma is malt with a hint of alcohol, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is malt and some alcohol. Not for me.

Bottle from Liquor Mountain. Extremely fruity, biscuity, swet nos, peach, orang, honey. Deep golden orange, low head. Sweet and malty, lots of honey ans biscuts and estery fruits, peach, orange, melon. Nice tingly, peppery hop finish. Honestly, this is rather like a Maibock. Maybe a bit corny. Gets worse as it warms. Nt trrible, though it is somewhat rough.
