Like fresh powder, it’s a seize-the-moment thing. This year we’ve chased down Lemondrop hops from the Yakima Valley in Washington. At harvest, we rush the hops from the vine to our kettles to ensure we capture the purest, juiciest essence of the hop flower in every beer. Enjoy the bright, bold aroma and flavor that comes but once a year.

Tasting at Matt’s, bottle conditioned
Hazy golden color with medium sized compact head. Not much aroma, decent crispy malt flavor, decent bitterness, a bit resiny, but the hop is underimpressive.

Bomber from Fred Meyer. Pours a somewhat hazy yellow color with a small white head. A sweet citrus nose. Bitter lemon peel, pils malt or some sweeter malty base, some zestiness. Interesting. Pretty nice. A bit against the grain of late boil resinous sweet hops. Solid.

Draft pour pint at Frankie’s pizza. Had this twice now, and I learned that this is much better ice cold then out of a room temperature pitcher. Glad I waited to rate until now. Cloudy golden pour with a thick foam head. Sweet lemon citrus aroma. Flavor matches with a refreshing finish. Where was this in the summer? Enjoyable beer.

22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy dull golden with a small white head. Nose brings out lots of citrus hops and lemondrop -- like the name of the hop. Flavour is quite candied, with citrus hops, cotton candy, and some undesirable herbal tartness. Not a fan of this at all. Probably the hop. Not digging this.

Bottle from Albertsons. Still within the "best by" date. Nice looking pour, clear golden with soft, silky head. Aroma is musty, funky. Taste also leans towards the funk. Sour-ish all around, dry bitterness. Would probably taste great first day of hops season, but getting musty with age. Still good, but wish I drank this sooner....

Clear yellow with a white head. Full of lemon and sugar sweetness. Not a whole lot else going on. A rather basic, lemon-forward, IPA. Well brewed and tasty but not otherworldly.

22oz bottle from Supermarket Liquor
Pours cloudy golden with a small white head, some lacing. Aroma of grainy, husk, straw and lemon. Flavors of wheat, lemon and plastic
I’m not a fan of this years version
