Dark brown. No head. This one is flatter than all the others. Aroma is vague toasted hazelnut. Honestly so is the palate. The adjuncts here seem strangely detached from the base, like they were added after the pour. Weird, this one doesn’t work.

On tap. Pours black with no head. Aromas of nutty chocolate, faint bourbon and toasted malts. Flavors of dry nutty dark chocolate and roasted malts with dry peanut like finish. Quite nice but not really an enhancement on the very good base.

On tap at Luppolo, pours black with a tiny tan head. Aroma has fairly subtle hazelnut character upfront, with the bourbon further back, and light cocoa even further back. Flavour brings out plenty of dry, roasted hazelnut character, accentuated by dusty cocoa, gentle bourbon, and some booze. Like the base, could use more sugars to balance out the astringent bitterness on the finish, but the balance and construction are great, and I like the hazelnut addition. Very good.

On tap at Luppolo. Pours black with a minimal head. Roasted malts and bourbon on the nose, but more muted than the base and pannetone version, maybe a vague nuttiness. Flavour has bready malts, roast is a bit dialed back, hazelnuts, and some light bourbon barrels. Nice, but not as coherent as the other two.
