Light gold in color, #Merica! is an old-school pre-Prohibition American Lager that was brewed in 2015 for the Annual D4th of July party put on by the Minneapolis-based punk band Dillinger Four. One of the only beer styles truly born in the U.S.A, pre-Prohibition American Lagers used corn as an integral part of the flavor profile, rather than as a simple substitute for barley malt. The flaked corn used in #Merica! comes across as a subtle, fresh corn flavor, while soft hop aromatics come from Warrior and Willamette hops, which add a mild fruity, herbal character that stays in the background. #Merica! is perfect for a hot summer day and celebrating the country’s birthday and 21 years of Dillinger Four.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 6/23/2017. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of lemon, cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of pale malt/corn and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, cracker, corn, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malt/corn and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is delicious pale adjunct lager style. All around nice robustness and balance of pale malt/corn and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very flavorful for the ABV. Over hopped as I expected, but it's not drastic. Nice clean barley flavors and balanced earthy hops. Not overdone on the adjuncts. A very enjoyable offering, and great style example.

Pour is a hazy blond with a large white head. Aroma is a decent, spicy bitter hop with some adjunct sweetness. Flavor is a clean lager malt but none of the hops show up. There is a bitterness after the swallow but it is very minimal. Very clean and refreshing but kind of lacking in flavor.

Pounder: Grassy farts smell. I mean literally, it smells like a locker room that has been crop dusted by an entire football team.Cloudy yellow, greenish hue, thick sticky head. Lime and grass. A little breadiness at midpalate. Medium body, easy carbonation. Smells terrible, but drinks like a hoppy wit, nice citrus notes.

Canned 6/10/16, drunk 8/23/16.
Bright, straw-golden body is well-carbonated and clear, showing a medium-sized, white head atop that fades slowly to cover.
Very lovely hop aromatics in the nose add all sorts of fresh and dried herb character, with light amounts of freshly cut grass. A hint of sourdough is seen in the background, alongside bigger honey and vanilla notes from the malt, which easily balance the hops. Don’t get any corn in the nose really, but that’s quite ok, as the malt and hops are soft and enjoyable and importantly, the beer is clean and free of alcohol.
Flavor-wise, it’s on par with the nose, though the hops seem to sink in to the malts rather quickly, as strong honey and light caramel, even, emerge through the middle and linger. There’s a bit of fruitiness and light bitterness from the hops, remaining on the finish, but as the beer warms and breathes, the malt steadily increases its dominance until mid-way through the can, it begins to get too sweet and the body a bit too full. Still, it’s not cloying or hugely problematic, but it is enough to prevent full enjoyment of an otherwise, clean, well-constructed beer.

Can: Slightly hazed, very pale golden-yellow with a frothy white head. Barley, corn, honey scent. Taste is malty with a pilsner-like bitter. Strong grassy hops, hay, grain malt. Nice.....solid body, big flavour.

Refrigerated 16 oz. aluminum can, canned on June 9 2016, poured into a glass. Pale hazy golden with small white head. Aroma is light lemon and pale malt, medium/light body, medium carbonation, and pretty good small bubble lacing. Taste is pale malt, floral hops, and some herbal hops. Not my thing.
