Cask at the Rose and Crown, HWY, 27/12/2025.
Reddish amber topped with a lasting beige head ... a great looking cask beer.
Nose is biscuit, caramel, fruit esters, grains.
Taste comprises candied orange peel, grass, herb, caramel, biscuit malt, brown bread, light pine nip.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close spiked with earthy hop bitterness.
Solid cask amber.

Hand pulled half pint at the Crown Hotel, Nantwich on 17th December 2025. Red amber body, white crust on top. Malty and red berries, some herbal action too. Liked it.

[Cask at the Greyfriar, Reading.] A reddish chestnut pour with a tight white head; spicy malt aroma; sweet malty taste with a little spice; then a syrupy finish with some hedgerow hops and a dry biscuity aftertaste. A solid Irish Ale.

This is basically a stronger version of Cwtch and my review of that beer still applies. Anyway, cask at Pickled Pig, Stafford. Pours reddish-brown with a medium sized frothy cream head and good lacing. There’s malts and humbugs in the aroma plus a hint of almonds. In the mouth it has a layer of sweetness on top of a bitter base. Flavours of grains, rye, traditional hops, caramel and toffee. A little lemon sharpness comes through later leading to a bitter tangy finish. This is decent.
