In order to obtain a beer like no other, we have been adding whole sour cherries to our lambic for generations.
Our meeting with American importer Charles Finkel in the 1970s revolutionised the fruit beer segment. Charles convinced us to export our old kriek to the United States by boat. What we had not thought of is that the movement of the waves would reactivate the fermentation process and cause the corks to pop during the trip. It was like something out of The Adventures of Tintin. To prevent that from happening, we therefore developed an alternative production method for our kriek. We use fresh, not from concentrate, unsweetened cherry filtrate which we blend with lambic that is at least one year old before fermenting & macerating for up to 3 days and pasteurising the whole batch. So the corks don't pop.

Smell- medium strong, cherry, bit more of sour cherry, sweet, candy, fruity. Foam- thin, soft, sweet, sour. Medium to large, cant pour 0.25 into 0.5. It is oink, purple color. Appearance- clear, quite dark ruby. Taste- sweet, medium sourness, cherry, fruits.

15-12-18 // old bottle from a shop in Belgium. BBD December 2015. brausebonbonkirschsüße. Klares tiefrot. Leicht pinker Schaum. Sehr künstlich süß. Mild sauer. Naja.

Pour finir en beauté une soirée catastrophique, je me suis donc attaqué à une Kriek, et en l'occurrence à cette Lindemans que l'on retrouve usuellement dans toutes les grandes surfaces. Mais ô infamie, que je n'avais pas encore détectée, ils ont osé nous mettre des édulcorants!!! Comment une brasserie qui se respecte peut-elle ajouter ce genre d'ignominie. Surtout que le résultat est une bière très sucrée qui devient vite écœurante. Est-ce pour minimiser l'acidité et qu'elle plaise au plus grand nombre qu'ils ont faits cela? Très certainement. Mais cela nous fait une bière très médiocre qui manque de subtilité et d'intérêt sur des arômes simples de cerise. A noter tout de même que l'intensité en bouche est bonne et que la robe rose, soutenue et limpide est appréciable. Sale soirée.
