This Belgian-style dark ale is the culmination of central and western European malts, Noble hops, candy sugar and a traditional Trappist yeast. Notes of dried fruit, cinnamon and vanilla make DNR a very complex experience to be enjoyed in moderation.

I’m always pleased to locate an unexpected Belgian ale I’ve not had before. DNR showed up at The Cellar yesterday, I’m sampling the 12 oz can tonight. The ABGB snifter gets the duty tonight, an unusual, dark gold-amber liquid with a smattering of off-white foam. The nose is as strong it should be, yellow fruit, some yeastiness and earth. I have a drink. Very decent, very representative of the style for a domestic brewer. Peach, malt, yeast, a toffee sweetness, cane syrup, hard candy and alfalfa. Well done, I will get more of this.

12 oz. can. Pours clear amber with a small fizzy beige head that lasted a gran total of about three seconds. Nose is dark fruits, malt, yeast, and spice. Taste is plum, more dark fruits, malt, fruit, spice, yeast, and alcohol. Carbonation is strong. Warming finish. Pretty good.

Can from blutt59, thanks for the opportunity! Pours a solid copper with a decent sized frothy off white head that persists. Aromas of dark brown sugar with light spicy yeast and some dark pitted fruits. Spicy earthy yeasty character dominates with a bit of brown sugary toffee maltiness and some light fruits. Pretty nice sipper.

Can. A- Dates, figs, raisins, cherries, dark fruits, slightly sweet, vanilla, boozy. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Sweet, caramel, dark fruits, alcohol. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, boozy finish. O- The aroma was quite nice and full of dark fruits. It did translate into the palate but it was a bit overpowered by alcohol. Complex and tasty enough.
