Opaque brown black color, small short-lived tan head and a little lace. Aroma is roast and resiny hops. Flavor is a lot Like Nose, mostly dry with a hint of sweetness upfront but largely very bitter and with a long bitter finish.

Keg at Whole Foods Wauwatosa, 9/22/16. Dark berry colored, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of resin, pine, roasted malt, chocolate, a berry like fruitiness. The taste is roasted malt, pine, chocolate. Thin.

Now Banjo Cat. A pretty respectable Black IPA. One of the more centered and drinkable offerings I’ve had from OneBB. Brown black body. Thick steady beige head. Luscious roast chocolate tones. Respectable hop balance. Right on.

On tap at Cooper’s Tavern in Madison, pours a murky black with some bright white head. Nose has burnt toast, some light coffee notes, pine resin, soap, herbs, dried citrus peel. Flavor balances roast and citrus well, toast, bread, orange, pine, soap. Full bodied, dry and bitter finish. Really solid and what you expect of the style.

Draft at the source. Pretty much black, thick beige head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of cocoa and coffee. Taste has toasted brownies and pine. Decent.

Sampled from the tap at Vintage. Pours near black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of roasted malts and dark grains with a hint of pine underlying. Flavor has creamy dark grains with light roasted malts balanced by pine and a bit of grass.
