Purple wax-dipped bomber, courtesy of jbruner’s FBW contest. 2015 bottle. Aroma is berries, SweeTarts, Graham Crackers if I really look, earthy. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head that fades somewhat quick. Taste is sweet, lightly tart, boozy, light Belgian yeast influence, finishes lightly bitter. Pretty thin. It’s ok, but the deScription sounds scrumptious and the payoff was a letdown. I wonder what Southern Tier could do with this.

On tap at the Prado Taco Mac. Dark purplish-brown color, with a small, creamy, tan head. The nose is lemon peel, wheat, brown sugar, and a fair bit of ripe berries. The flavor is a nice bready sweetness, with a crisp, fruity tart zing. Heavy body, creamy, crisp, and lightly acidic. This is a surprisingly well balanced and tasty beer. Worth sipping and savoring.

This brew is a hazy orange color with a medium ivory white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of berries, yeast and malt. Medium-bodied with a mildly tart blackberry character, along with notes of yeast and biscuit malt. The finish is fruity with a blackberry aftertaste. Decent overall.

Phenolic, almost medicinal, berry nose. Cloudy rose, copper, thin head. Berry and bubblegum, punch of phenols at midpalate, finishes with apple and white grape. Full body, lively carbonation. I was really looking forward to this one and have to admit to be a little dusappointed. I think the berries just didn’t work for the base style. I wasn’t really looking for this to be very bready given that it is a saison.

Bottle at clockworks tasting. Nose is blackberry and lemon. Tastes amazingly like a cobbler very interesting. Tastes of blackberry, Graham, yeast, and lemon. They succeeded in making this desert into a beer however I prefer it’s original solid form more than liquified.
