We havent brewed a black IPA for over a decade so it was about time to revisit this fantastic style! Roasted and chocolate notes meet American powerhouse hops and it sits just right in between a US IPA and a classic porter.

33cl can from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours almost black, with fine cream foam. Aroma is of licorice, toasty. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is medium bitter. Final is fairly long, bitter and roasty.

lattina 33 cl, bel cappello di schiuma color cappuccino fine persistente, colore marrone/mogano, al naso luppoli resina malto tostato note erbacee, in bocca malto tostato agrumi leggero caffè resina e una punta di affumicato, corpo medio, carbonazione moderata, astringente, amaro accentuato lungo nel finale. Can picked up from Craftbeershop Parchim Germany consumed at home Friday 21st August 2026 listening to Yard Act - You're Going to Need a Little Music, we had Feta and Spinach Canelloni. Pours dirty black with a sticky off white head. The nose is a little bit tobacco and roasty. The mouth follows a similar trajectory to the aroma, they're a piney edge, dry finish, it's a very good beer. Score:7.4

33cl can from Systembolaget webbeställning - picked up in Visby. Pours dark brown with a slightly tanned head. Roasty and hoppy aroma with notes of licorice, dark fruits, pine and hints of chocolate and citrus. Moderate sweet with medium flavour intensity and ditto bitterness. A bit on the lighter side, but easy to drink and quite enjoyable.

Can at cbj Tasting. Aroma has herbs and resin over chewy dough. Flavourwise it's bitter and resinous with a liqourice edge. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent.

0.33l can. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, citrus and pine. Pours cloudy dark brown color with large soapy light brown head, good lacing and sparkling appearance. Taste starts medium sweet but rich roasted malty and refreshing citrusy, following is earthy, bready and herbal, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is dry and heavy bitter. Malmö March tasting at Palace Hall 21/03/2026 - nice to have a more roasted malty edge on this BIPA, some ashy roast with nice hoppy fruity undertones or citrus and tropical hits punching through, medium body, roasted malty and solid hoppy close. Good stuff.

A very dark brown beer, a head is big and beige. Aroma has pine, roastiness, grapefruit, mango. Taste has roastiness, pine, only light fruitness, some bitterness. Medium bodied. Good beer, more fruits into the taste and then would be in the top level.
