Double barrelled barleywine aged in French and Slovak whisky barrels (18 + 12 months).

Základom tohto piva je takmer trojročný hutný barleywine, ktorý postupne ležal v dvoch rôznych sudoch od whisky - najprv po francúzskej a následne slovenskej. Nadchol nás celou paletou karamelových tónov s výrazným vanilkovým prejavom a hrejivou alkoholovou linkou. Do kontrastu sme k nemu pridali trochu ročného munichwine z iného barelu s výraznejšou horkosťou a krásnym pôsobením dreva. Výsledkom je mnohovrstevný hrejivý dezert a s peknými 17,2 % ABV. Vôňa belgických praliniek a spáleného cukru sa snúbi s pohárikom whisky, náznakom trieslovín nie nepodobných červenému vínu a štipkou tabaku. Stojíme si za názorom, že vyzreté silné pivo naozaj nepotrebuje nič okrem dobrého sudu, pozorného prístupu a hromady trpezlivosti.

Nose is chocolate shavings, mellow barrel vibes, dried fruit esters, brown sugar melt, toffee fudge.
Taste comprises figs, dates, ripe fruits, mellow barrel, booze, spice, chocolate.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Solid sipper.

A mild haze on this deep amber brown beer, small and short lived bubbly pale tan head. A fairly light and smooth palate, all things considered, there is a slight viscosity and a reasonable amount of carbonation for a 17% brew. Smooth and slightly viscous malts, good dark toffee and caramel, neither aspect is at all sweet. Boozy bourbon / whiskey barrel ripe fruits. A fair alcohol spice. A little wet wood oak barrel and a trace of vanilla. A salty vibe. Alcohol spicy finish. Yeah, a big punchy barrel aged barleywine that will last beyond on the point I'm pushing up daisies. It's notably boozy, but at 17% abv, who saw that coming? Robust and drinkable.

Bottle at Winter Affair 2026. Huge thanks Vojta! Brownish hazy body, off-white head. Smooth, fresh barrely aroma, loads of raisins. Nice! Lean, dry, smooth caramelly taste, the body's nice, but getting old barrel vibes as well, which kinda bring the experience down. Eh...

5.12.2025. Tap at Bombovar (pic). Med-full body, no carbo. High sweet, med-high warmth, med bitter. High chocolate, med-high cocoa, dried fruits - raisins. Feels a bit dead overall though, with no bubbles, no hops, no nothing. Just warming choco cara raisin. Average. 6,1.
24.1.2026. Rerate, tap at Zichovec Winter Affair 2026. Much better now. Very strong, but with lots of decadent malts and dried fruits. Great.
