Hornsby’s Amber Hard Cider is a medium bodied cider, with a golden amber hue and notes of green apple on the noes. The taste has ripe fruit notes throughout with a full apple flavor. The finish is balanced and smooth with a tart dryness.

11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a clear gold with a thin white head. The aroma is granny smith and vanilla bean. The flavor is fructose sweetness, and more tart than most ciders. The palate is medium, lightly astringent, and sticky. Finishes fairly clean. Overall, this is a nice cider, with more flavor and heavier body than most.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours clear gold with a small white quickly disappearing head that leaves a collar of foam. Aroma is ripe apples but not as strong as the Crisp Apple I rated before this. Taste’s pretty much the same as the aforementioned cider. Pretty dull. Watery. Thin-bodied with soft carbonation.

12 ounce bottle from Wegman’s Lake Manassas in Gainesville, VA, opened 5.17.11. Pours a clear gold color with a very thin white head. Aroma of apples, some graininess and a chemical note. The taste is sweet apples, some graininess, a bit of tartness. Thin body. Drinkable, but not as good as most other commercial cider options, and the addition of artificical flavors makes this a drain pour for me.

Sampled from a 12 oz bottle this cider poured a dark amber color with a trace of a white head. The aroma was sharp, a bit boozy and had an off applejuice note. The flavor was harsh rancid apple and a touch of spice. Tart and vinegary finish. We nicknamed this one "Woodsuck".

Bottled. A golden cider with a lazing a beige head. The aroma is dominated by alcohol as well as prunes - weird for a cider. The falvor is again domintated by alcohol, but combined with a bit of apples and prunes. Leading to a dry slightly tart finish. Not to my liking.

Pours with a small, fizzy, white head, golden yellow food coloring color. Aroma is overly sweet with jolly rancher sour apple and some sulfur. Taste is artificial caramel, jolly rancher apple, Fake tasting. Nat as fake or cloying as Woodchuck. Thin mouthfeel light bubbles.

12 oz bottle from Safeway, Port Angeles; Nose of fresh red delicious apples with a hint of tartness; translucent yellow with a medium white head; flavor of red delicious apples with a slight tartness rather than sweetness. Finish is dry and slightly tart. Not bad for a mass produced cider.
