50cl bottle from a Countdown supermarket in Christchurch. A cola coloured pour with a ring of cream head; aroma of roasted malts and some burnt sugar; rather thin in the mouth, with burnt sugar and chocolate malts; and a bitter roasted grain finish with a touch of licorice. Lacking depth.

330ml bottle. Pours dark ruby with far too much carbonation. Smoke, chocolate, biscuits. Bit fizzy and thin. Not my favourite.

From notes. Bottle. Dark brown color, almost black. Aroma of burnt espresso. Taste has bitter cocoa, dark burnt toast. OK.

Pours black with a fading off-white creamy head.Nose shows soft roasted malt with rich chocolate characters and a little roasted coffee. Underneath is some toffee and caramel. Very nice.Similar flavours but less roasted character, it seems to fall short at first from lack of malt.Carbonation is too low and the body seems a bit watery.

Bottle, 10C. Dark brown with a coat of beige head. Aroma of mocha, light roast, grass, some prunes. Balanced taste has light roast, coffee and grassy bitterness. Pleasant weight - just big enough to let the flavours fill the mouth. Brief dry mocha finish. Plain and good.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, dark, orangey brown with a creamy, beige head leaving some lacework. Sweetish aroma of hard roasted malts with a whiff of vanilla. Medium in body with sweetsih, hard roasted malt accents and some sweet licorice. A light ashy touch while the bitterness is very discreet. A very quaffable Porter. 200208

Bottled. A deep red beer with a medium tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor primarily, but also with a slight oxidation due to cellaring as some notes of chocolate. Thanks a lot to Jeremy of Den Tatoverede Enke for sharing this.

Bottled. Black, small head. Aroma of licorice and molasses. Sweetish with raw, oily mellow mouthfeelMedium bodied with low bitterness. Dominated by sticky molasses. Not at all to my liking...
