Laughing Lab is our most popular brew among beer drinkers and beer judges alike, with ELEVEN medals to its name since 1994 at the Great American Beer Festival® alone. The Lab has a complex maltiness that comes from a careful blend of specialty malts. Its nutty, roasted flavor is mildly sweet, but not too rich. Smooth and luscious!

Bottle. Deep Amber with a minimal head. Aroma of sweet malt, port and spice. has a smooth mouthfeel, fruity with a dry full flavour. Leaves a full and pleasant aftertaste that hits every part of the mouth

Dark amber. Nice malty-earthy aroma. Caramel on the plate - earthy and sweetish with mild brown sugar notes.

12oz bottle. Murky red-brown color. Thin, oily non-head. Malty, medium-bodied, quite true to style. Sort of a watery, low carbonated, amber-brown ale. Sweet, nutty, light brown sugar. I respect a good, sessionable Scottish Ale. Well done.

Bottle via a trade with jbye4334. Pours with a fading off-white head over a hazy brown body. Aroma of earth, tobacco, vegital and caramel. Taste is tea, tobacco, pepper and caramel. Light bubbles, dry finish.

After a good experience with their IPA, I picked this one up, and I’m kind of sorry I did - huge diacetyl bomb, both in the nose and flavor - the sad thing is, it tastes intentional - there are some plum notes, roasted nuts, a mild bitterness - there is some decent stuff happening, but the diacetyl is a huge distraction - too bad.

Sample from a bottle at Jonesy’s Eatbar in Denver. This beer pours amber with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Caramel malt aroma. Light body with a sweet toasted malt character and flavors of caramel and mild hops. The finish is malty and fruity and leaves a lingering sweetness behind. Slightly above average overall.

bottle - Pours amber brown and has a rich malt aroma. The flavor is heavy on the malt with mild dark fruit notes. It’s medium bodied and rather enjoyable.

’08 bottle courtesy of BA trader. Pours copper, brownish with beige head. Aroma is fruity, malty with hints of cherry/prune and light chocolate. Flavor, dark fruits really give this one a good dimension, hinting at a gingerbread palate with some caramel and fruits. Possibly some smoke in the finish.

Strong aroma of burnt malts that overpowers everything else if there is anything else. The flavor reveals sweet malts, but like the aroma, the dominant flavor is burnt malts which I didn’t find particularly enjoyable. Some bitterrness in the aftertaste.
